Recently I received a query via email as to whether or not I've ever painted Trout on wine glasses. Hmm...well, no, I don't believe I have. There are dozens of trout varieties, and my emailer didn't specify which she had in mind. I grew up in the mountains of WV, so I am familiar with Rainbow Trout and several other varieties. In fact for one day when I was 12 I held the state record for largest Rainbow Trout caught.

Anyway, as with any new challenge, I got to researching Trout and have been amazed by the brilliant coloring on many of them. There are so many variants of patterning even with the same type of fish. I don't know why this so surprised me, I guess I've gotten so used to the brilliant flashy fish down here in the salt water of the Bahamas I forgot that not all freshwater fish are brown or gray.

I am so thankful for this client's inquiry. It presented me with a challenge and reminded me of the beauty of fish in the creeks, ponds, lakes and rivers from my childhood. She may have instigated a new line of glasses!
