It's Friday, and yes, more crabs are crawling your way.

Although I really enjoyed creating it, I think this one has something of a turbulent feel to it. I guess it's understandable when one is painting fresh-caught, live crabs the mind automatically is filled with images from recent news coverage of the gulf oil spill disaster and its effects on gulf fishermen. I suppose that's why this painting started out as just a gloomy sort of day and as the painting progressed, the clouds in the backgroud went from just gloomy to foreboding. The water was just dark and murky looking at first, but the approaching storm stirred it into a chop whose waves are beating against the dock. This crabber just did beat the storm with his small catch.

Happy Thursday All. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend this past weekend.  (Did you remember to Thank A Vet? )
My hubby and I had a great time at a local cook-out right on the Potomac River. I returned home energized and ready to paint.

Summertime on the Potomac is synonymous with Steamed Crabs, so it was inevitable that I would start painting those scrumptious little critters again once we returned to Virginia. One of the best places around to join friends for an afternoon of crab pickin' is Tim's Rivershore. Tim's has a great outdoor seating area, excellent bartender, friendly servers, and most importantly, perfectly steamed crabs! I did these custom hand-painted jeans for a Tim's Rivershore fan who LOVES her some crabs. I will be working on a few more similar designs for other clients while I am in Virginia. If any of ya'll want your jeans custom painted or want me to find a pair of jeans and paint them for you, just email me. These will only be available while I'm in Virginia, which is probably only for another month. So get'em while the gettin's good!

Since it's getting to be Summertime, and that means HOT, I did a pair of capri pants with the steamed/spiced crab painted on it. Doesn't it make you just want to reach for the Old Bay and Apple Cider Vinegar? Well, it does me.
More crab stuff to come!
